About wireless charging

What is wireless charging?

With wireless charging, power is transferred via electromagnetic induction. Whereas traditional charging requires the power to pass through a cable, with inductive charging the device receives the necessary power through electromagnetic fields. This eradicates the need for wires. All you need is a Qi certified phone and a Qi certified charging station. It’s rather like your electric toothbrush: when it runs out of power you place it in the docking station where it is charged wirelessly.

How does wireless charging work?

Wireless charging works by something which is called magnetic induction. In inductive charging systems, energy is transferred between coils by a magnetic field via inductive coupling. Read more on how wireless charging works.

What is Qi or Qi2-certified?

Qi is the global standard for wireless charging. Products must pass strict safety and efficiency tests to be Qi-certified. Only then can they carry the Qi logo.

Qi2 is the faster, next-gen version with magnetic alignment for easier, more efficient charging.

What is Qi2 and how is it different from MagSafe?

Qi2 is the latest standard for wireless charging with magnetic alignment, just like Apple’s MagSafe, but it's universal. That means it's designed to work with all Qi2-certified devices, not just Apple products.

What is fast wireless charging?

Fast wireless charging increases power output, usually up to 15W, to charge your battery more quickly. If both your phone and charger support it, you’ll get noticeably shorter charging times.

Is wireless charging faster or slower than cabled charging?

Cabled charging is still slightly faster, but wireless charging is quickly catching up, with 15W chargers delivering around 35% in just 30 minutes. And with Qi2.2 and 25W charging on the way, speeds will soon rival cables. For most charging needs, like overnight or at your desk, wireless is more than fast enough. Plus, it's simpler, tidier, and more convenient.

What are the benefits of wireless charging?

Wireless charging is all about simplicity. No cables, no wear and tear on ports: just place your device down and it starts charging. It keeps your space clean, powers multiple devices, and with magnetic alignment, placement is always spot on.

Device compatibility

What kind of devices support wireless charging?

Most smartphones, earbuds, and smartwatches from major brands like Apple, Samsung, and Google support wireless charging, especially models from the last few years. Check here the full list of compatible devices that support wireless charging.

How do I know if my device supports wireless charging?

Check your device’s specs or look for the MagSafe, Qi or Qi2 logo. If you're unsure, search “[your device model] + wireless charging” or visit our compatibility page.

How do I know if my USB-C cable supports the right wattage for my device?

For charging one device at 15W, most USB-C cables and adapters will work. But if you’re charging multiple devices, you’ll need a higher-wattage adapter (60W or more) and a matching USB-C PD (Power Delivery) cable. Always check the specs to make sure your setup can deliver the total power your devices need.

Shipping and delivery

When will my order be shipped, and from where?

Our team works hard to ship all orders within one working day (24 hours). Orders are dispatched from our warehouse in the Netherlands.

Can I track my order?

As soon as your order is handed over to our courier (DPD), you'll receive a confirmation email. This includes the track & trace link.

How long will it take before I receive my new charger?

Within the Netherlands & Belgium you will usually receive your order within two working days. If the charger needs to be sent abroad, it will take a little longer. You will often receive your order within 5 days.

How much are the shipping costs?

We offer free shipping within the EU. For countries outside the EU, shipping is free on orders over €75. For orders under €75, a €15 shipping fee applies.

Will I have to pay import duties when ordering from the US?

These charges are determined by US Customs at the time of import and may vary based on the applicable policies at that moment. They are not included in the checkout price.

Under which conditions are webshop orders shipped?

All webshop orders are shipped under DAP delivery conditions. This means that Zens will cover all transport costs. We can deliver to all destinations within the EU without additional costs. For shipments outside the EU, local laws and regulations determine whether any additional costs will be charged to the recipient. Import duties or VAT costs may be charged to the recipient. The majority of our products fall under commodity code 85044085 and are therefore exempt from import duties (except products with batteries).

Using your wireless charger

Why does my charger make a very soft humming sound while active?

It can happen that the charger makes a very soft sound while charging. This is nothing to worry about and might be caused by the surface (e.g. a hollow surface) on which the charger is placed. If the charger is placed on a hollow surface: you can try and place the charger on a solid surface instead.

Do I need to remove my phone case to charge wirelessly?

No, all Zens chargers work with most lightweight cases (under 3 mm). Just avoid cases with metal. For best results, use a magnetic or MagSafe-compatible case.

How do I know my device is charging?

If your device is charging, the charging symbol appears on the screen of your device or you will see a charging (led) light on your device. Some Zens wireless chargers have a LED light that also indicates that your device is being charged successfully.

Can I charge multiple devices at the same time on one wireless charger?

Yes, if your charger supports it. Zens multi-device chargers can charge your phone, earbuds, smartwatch and even a tablet at the same time, keeping everything in one place.

How do I place my phone on the wireless charger?

Place your phone face-up in the centre of the charger for the best performance. Most new chargers use Qi2/MagSafe with magnetic alignment, making it easy to snap your phone into the right spot. If charging doesn’t start, try removing your case to check alignment.

Why did my phone only charge a few percent overnight?

This may be caused by misalignment or interference from your phone case. Make sure your phone is centred on the charger, especially if it's not a magnetic model. Try removing the case and repositioning the phone.

It can also help to unplug the charger and plug it back in. Lastly, check your phone’s battery settings: some models have options that limit or optimise wireless charging.

Why doesn’t my wireless charger work anymore after an iOS update?

Sometimes, an iOS update can affect wireless charging temporarily. Try restarting your iPhone and make sure you're running the latest version. Also check your battery settings: some updates may enable features like optimised charging that delay charging. If issues continue, test the charger without a case or check if you bought a certified charger.

How can I get a software update for my charger?

Some Zens chargers support firmware updates. If available, instructions can be found on the product page or provided by our support team.

Can I return my order for a refund?

Wireless charging safety

Is wireless charging safe?

Wireless charging systems must obey a set of rules and regulations related to electromagnetic interference (EMI/EMC), sometimes also called “radio disturbance”, and magnetic fields. All Zens products meet these rules and regulations and are MagSafe official, Qi or Qi2-certified.

So, is wireless power safe? Yes, all kinds of precautions have been taken to make sure that our wireless chargers are perfectly safe. Always make sure that your wireless charger is Qi-compatible and Qi-certified. This way you can be sure that your wireless charger is safe for use.

Are Zens wireless chargers certified?

Yes. Zens has been a proud member of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) since 2011. All Zens wireless chargers are Qi, or Qi2-certified and extensively tested to meet the highest standards for safety, performance, and compatibility.

What is FOD (Foreign Object Detection)?

FOD is a safety feature in wireless chargers that stops charging if it detects metal or other foreign objects between your device and the charger. This prevents overheating and protects both your device and the charger.

What does the blinking red light on my charger mean?

A blinking red light usually means Foreign Object Detection (FOD) has been triggered. This safety feature stops charging if there’s metal or another object between your device and the charger. Remove any coins, cards, or magnetic items, and try again.

My phone feels a little warm to touch after charging. Should I be concerned?

No. It’s normal for your phone to get slightly warm when charging wirelessly, so this is nothing to worry about. All Zens products have passed appropriate safety tests. When using a regular plug-in charger, you’ll notice that the charger warms up a little. It’s the same with wireless charging.
