The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) is a group of leading companies that cooperate in continuously defining, maintaining and developing the Qi standard for wireless charging. As a wireless power expert, Zens is proud member of the Wireless Power Consortium and we support and participate in the Qi standard.

About the Wireless Power Consortium

In 2008 a group of eight companies founded the Wireless Power Consortium and introduced the first wireless power standard: the so called “Qi” standard. Today there are over 320 companies Wireless Power Consortium member, including Zens.

The mission of all consortium members is to build a future where all battery-operated products can be charged without messy cables. With over 1300 Qi types of devices in the market, the Qi standard is the most widely adopted global wireless power standard here today.

Continuous open development of the Qi standard

The Wireless Power Consortium is committed to the open development of the Qi standard. The Qi standard is developing fast because of the open collaboration between all members, making it easier for members to invest in research and development.

Where the first Qi standard version supported 5W for charging, version 1.2 already supports fast charging with 15W power. Coming up in the near future: standards for the 60W-200W and 200W-2400W power ranges.
