Yes, wireless charging is safe. On this page, you can read more about how it works, the standards we follow, and how Zens ensures a secure and reliable charging experience.

As safe as your cooking plate

Did you ever doubt the safety of your cooking plate? You can compare wireless charging to inductive cooking, which is basically the same technology. This utilizes much more power (~5000W) than current wireless charging stations (~5-15W). Wireless charging systems must obey a set of rules and regulations related to electromagnetic interference (EMI/EMC), sometimes also called “radio disturbance”, and magnetic fields. All Zens products meet these rules and regulations and are Qi or Qi2 certified. All kinds of precautions have been taken to make sure that wireless charging is safe.

Qi and Qi2 certified

Always choose a certified wireless charger, so you know it has been thoroughly tested for safety. Many wireless chargers on the market are only labeled as "Qi compatible" but do not meet the full certification standards.

Qi sets the standard for safety when it comes to wireless charging. All Zens wireless chargers meet the latest Qi certification requirements and include advanced safety features to protect your devices. As a member of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), Zens is actively involved in developing the latest standards, including Qi2. This successor to Qi offers more efficient charging and improved magnetic alignment. Using uncertified chargers can seriously damage your battery or devices over time.

Foreign Object Detection (FOD)

Foreign Object Detection (FOD) is an embedded safety mechanism that automatically stops charging if there is interference caused by a foreign object such as metal (e.g. coins, paperclips, bankcards). The transmitter of a wireless charging system can detect if a piece of metal is located on its surface. In this case, the transmitter either does not start charging at all or it stops charging.

Heat protection

Wireless chargers are creating some heat as they are charging. This is absolutely normal and nothing to worry about. When using a regular wall charger, you’ll notice that the charger warms up a little. It’s the same with wireless charging.

All Zens chargers even have extra safety measures. When the charger is becoming too hot it will stop charging automatically to protect you and your devices.

Relax and sleep well

It’s completely safe to use our chargers on your bedside table overnight. The charger will automatically stop charging when your battery reaches 100%. When the battery decreases, it will recharge again so you are always fully charged.

Also all our power adapters meet the safety rules and regulations.
