What is Qi2?

Qi2 is the new global standard for wireless charging and an upgraded version of Qi. Qi2, like Apple’s MagSafe, works with magnets, allowing you to charge Qi2-compatible and MagSafe devices efficiently. As a result of the magnetic precision, your smartphone will find the wireless charging point more easily and will charge quickly up to 15W.

The Qi2 technology is universal and released by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC): an association (of which Zens is a member) that guarantees the safety, ease of use and efficiency of wireless charging. Check Zens’ Qi2 certified wireless chargers here.

Qi2 versus MagSafe

Qi2 is a future-proof charging technology that uses magnets, like Apple’s MagSafe. Thanks to the magnetic precision, you can easily and quickly charge your Qi2 compatible device up to 15W. While MagSafe is only available to Apple users (from iPhone 12), Qi2 is an open and global standard and available for various brands such as Apple, Samsung, LG and Google. As a result, Qi2 is expected to be the universal wireless charging technology of the future. Check all the benefits of Qi2 here.

Which phones do support Qi2?

Qi2 supports all Qi2 compatible phones, including the iPhone 13, 14 and 15. The first Android phones (and other devices such as earphones and smartwatches) with Qi2 technology are expected to appear in 2024. It is still unknown which brand (e.g. Samsung or Google) will have the scoop.

In addition, you can also use a Qi2 wireless charger with a phone with ”Qi” support and, for example, purchase a Qi2 phone case for magnetic (horizontal and vertical) charging. Do you have an iPhone (13 and up) with MagSafe? You can simply use Qi2 wireless chargers, which are often cheaper than wireless MagSafe chargers.
